Southern Museum Sponsors Living History Timeline Event — RESCHEDULED

10/12/09 (Kennesaw, GA) —The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History's annual event, Through the Ages: A Living History Timeline, has been rescheduled to November 14th and 15th!

"The event was originally scheduled for October 11 and 12," explained Jeff Drobney, executive director of the Museum. "We think moving the event to November will enable more people to attend, as well as allow for the possibility of an inclement weather situation we have been watching all week."

The event is still expected to be a fun-filled weekend, with many historical periods thoroughly represented. "Through the Ages is a timeline educational experience of military and civilian life from as early as the Roman army to present military. Some of the best Reenactment and Living History units available will portray civilian and military life with displays, demonstrations and drill within their timeline in history," said Harper Harris, lead interpreter at the Museum.

Through the Ages: A Living History Timeline is now November 14 from 10 AM to 4 PM, and November 15 from noon to 4 PM. This year's event is at Swift-Cantrell Park, located at 3140 Old 41 Highway just west of Kennesaw Elementary School. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children four through 12, and free for children three and under. For more information, contact 770.427.2117, ext 3176, or jpies@kennesaw-ga.gov.

A Smithsonian Institution affiliate, the Southern Museum features collections of rare Civil War weapons, uniforms, and other personal items; an exciting exhibit about The Great Locomotive Chase, including a short movie; and a full-scale replica of a locomotive factory that helped rebuild the South after the war.

The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History is located 20 miles north of Atlanta, off I-75 at exit 273. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors, $5.50 for children ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and under.
